Ford Zimbabwe Champions Cancer Awareness at St. John's College Pink Day
Ford Zimbabwe recently showed its dedication to community health and well-being by sponsoring the Pink Day event at St. John's College, Zimbabwe. This event aimed to raise awareness about cancer, a critical health issue affecting the nation. With over 5000 new cancer diagnoses and more than 1500 deaths annually, cancer remains a major cause of illness and death in the country.
As part of Ford Zimbabwe's ESG strategy, health is an essential pillar in promoting sustainability. Mr. Tashinga W. Gomera, Group Head of Marketing and Customer Experience, stated, "Supporting cancer awareness has a profound impact on individuals, families, and society as a whole. It contributes to better health outcomes, fosters community support, and drives progress in the fight against cancer."
Mr. Chris Fourie, the Sports Director for St. John’s College, highlighted that the Pink Day aimed "to create awareness about cancer and to encourage our community to be grateful for life, to be service-oriented to those in need, and to not always be focused on oneself."
Through our authorised dealership, Croco Motors, Ford Zimbabwe supported the event by showcasing vehicles, emphasizing their dedication to social responsibility. Their presence demonstrated their commitment to using their platform and resources to bring positive change within the community and they encouraged other organizations to show similar support.
Cancer represents a growing health challenge in Zimbabwe, driven by factors such as unhealthy lifestyle choices and an ageing population. As cancer cases continue to increase, there is a pressing need for strong awareness and education campaigns. Ford Zimbabwe urges other organizations to unite in the battle against cancer.
