Ford Zimbabwe Extends the Gift of Mobility Through “Truckloads of Happiness” Drive
Ford Zimbabwe has continued its mandate to uplift local communities through its signature Corporate Social Responsibility programme, “Truckloads of Happiness.” This year, in alignment with Ford Global’s Community Services pillar of Mobility, the team embarked on a dedicated mobility drive aimed at restoring independence, dignity, and comfort to patients in clinics and hospitals in and around Harare.
The mobility drive focused on supplying essential mobility aids — including wheelchairs, crutches, and walkers — to healthcare centres that support some of Zimbabwe’s most vulnerable citizens. Among the beneficiaries were Bindura Provincial Hospital, Highfield Polyclinic, and other facilities that struggle with limited resources despite serving large patient populations daily.
For many patients, mobility is more than movement — it is the foundation of dignity, health, and quality of life. Wheelchairs and walkers allow individuals to access treatment areas safely, regain independence after illness or injury, reduce caregiver strain, and speed up recovery. In maternity wards, outpatient clinics, and rehabilitation wings, the impact of these tools is immediate and life-changing.
Even a single wheelchair can serve hundreds of patients in a week. The donated aids will help reduce waiting times, improve patient flow, and ensure that caregivers can focus their energy on providing quality care rather than manually assisting patients who lack mobility support.
Through this initiative, Ford Zimbabwe puts into action the global belief that mobility is a basic human right — not a privilege reserved for a few. The gesture reflects Ford’s long-standing commitment to supporting communities in times of need, using its reach and resources to create practical, meaningful change.
The “Truckloads of Happiness” campaign has become synonymous with compassion, impact, and consistency.
